加拿大維多利亞大學社會學系副教授
周敏，北京大學社會學和經濟學學士，哈佛大學社會學碩士和博士。現任加拿大維多利亞大學社會學副教授。主要研究經濟和政治全球化的社會學影響，比如國際貿易網絡的結構和演變💽，超政府（supranational）組織和體系的形成，社會觀念演變的跨國數據分析🐚，以及社會參與對東亞國際關系的影響。他的研究發表在Social Forces, Social Networks, Social Science Research, The Sociological Quarterly, International Sociology, Canadian Review of Sociology, Sociological Forum, Sociological Perspectives, Sociological Inquiry和Journal of East Asian Studies等學術期刊上👨🏿🦱。

本講座會主要概括性的介紹社會網絡研究的概念/理論（第一周）和實際應用範例（第二周）。
第一周（四節課）：社會網絡研究的概念/理論入門
The first week of this course will cover major concepts and general principles in social networks. You will learn interesting concepts such as tie, balance, transitivity, diffusion, cohesion, centrality, clusters, small world, homophily, hierarchy, structural equivalence, role, structural hole, brokerage, and the world system, among others.
第二周（四節課）：社會網絡研究的實際應用簡介
In Week 2 we will sample social network studies with diverse substantive concerns and interesting findings. These empirical studies lend support to the ubiquity of social networks in our daily life and give you a sense of the potential offered by the social network approach.
